Missouri does not have an OSHA-approved State Plan. Consequently, Federal OSHA regulations apply and are enforced throughout the state.
Federal OSHA has jurisdiction over:
Most private sector employers and employees
Federal government workers and workplaces
Employees working for state and local governments in Missouri are not covered by Federal OSHA, as public sector coverage is only available through a state-run OSHA program — which Missouri does not have.
Although OSHA training is not legally required, it is highly recommended to help workers understand job-specific and general safety practices:
OSHA 10-Hour Training – recommended for entry-level workers
OSHA 30-Hour Training – recommended for supervisors or workers with safety responsibilities
These voluntary programs help prevent workplace injuries and illnesses while promoting compliance with OSHA safety standards.
