OSHA TRAINING IN MONTANA
Montana does not have an OSHA-approved State Plan. Therefore, Federal OSHA maintains jurisdiction over private sector employers and employees throughout the state.
Scope of Federal OSHA in Montana
Federal OSHA is responsible for:
Enforcing occupational health and safety regulations in private sector workplaces
Conducting inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions for non-compliance
Public Sector Workers
Employees of state and local governments in Montana are not covered by Federal OSHA, as coverage for public sector workers is only provided through state-run OSHA plans — which Montana does not operate.
Training Guidance
Although OSHA does not mandate completion of OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour training courses, it strongly recommends them:
10-Hour OSHA Training for entry-level workers
30-Hour OSHA Training for supervisory or safety-related roles
These training programs help enhance awareness of workplace hazards and promote safety culture among employees and employers.
